Action for Southern Africa (ACTSA) ~ website design and optimisation for an NGO

As a non-profit campaign organisation, ACTSA, formerly the Anti-Apartheid Movement, had a limited communications budget, however, they recognised the potential of an optimised web presence in being able to:
  • increase their fundraising.
  • disseminate its key campaign messages globally.
They employed satiworks to design and develop a new accessible and search engine optimised website and E-newsletter, working alongside their designer in the production of their webskins.
What makes a good charity website?
  • Findability
  • Accessibility
  • Usability
  • Communication
  • Transparency
  • Responsiveness
  • Integration (with offline)

Web optimisation for an NGO - ACTSA

The bespoke content management system which satiworks developed allows ACTSA staff to update supporters on news and campaigns as they happen, ensuring that their supporters are able to view immediately the impact of their support.

Since the site is bloggable it allows supporters to inspire others to campaign against injustice. This means that the usual hierarchical information share utilised by charities is turned upside down and becomes single level ensuring greater impact and the ability for everyone to feel that their voice counts.

In order to allow fully automated, but campaign restricted online fundraising, which assures ACTSA's donors that the money that they have donated is only being used towards the campaign for which it was given to support. satiworks employed Charitites Technology Trust to provide a low cost secure payment system that allows one-off and regular monthly online giving.

It is anticipated that through the above and their new multiple enewsletter feed ACTSA will become more green and less reliant on traditional Direct Mail methods. This will enable them to increase monies spent on the actual campaigns themselves rather than incur the admin, postage and agency costs that their  traditional marketing has involeved.
