A list Shopping Online at Start

For those looking for an easy online fashion shopping experience that replicates the glamour and fun of ‘A’ list shopping but in an accessible interactive manner, Start have created the perfect retail therapy site that mirrors their Shoreditch boutiques for men and women.

Their new e-commerce site by Satiworks, www.start-london.com, sees the migration away from their previous Flash site to a fully updatable CMS allowing Start to invest in web marketing rather than site upkeep.

The ethos of the site is to provide a simple shopping experience that allows the visitor both the space and time to view the ranges of handpicked designer clothing and learn more about the designers who created them in an interesting Shoreditch style environment.

Findability, accessibility and usability provides the backbone to the new Start site; emphasis has been on ensuring all searches lead to Start through successful organic search engine optimisation. The new site has already seen a 20% rise in search engine referrals in the first week since launch and a 70% conversion rate increase.

Interactive elements within the site include the ability to chat live to a Start Online Style Assistant via the integration of Liveperson, Wishlists and an email alert to allow customers to be notified as soon as their favourite piece in the coming season is in stock, therefore ensuring that they have every opportunity in securing that must-have item from what are often exclusive and limited ranges.

Offline shoppers will now be able to use both their gift certificates and credit notes online and for those that prefer to find online but try offline, there is now the ability to print a product page accompanied by Start’s suggested ‘Perfect With’ items and a map to the store.

“The daily increase in our conversion rate one week on since launch indicates the full potential of Start online, “ comments owner Philip Start. “There is a huge need for customers to readily find on the web both men’s and women’s big-name and alternative designs in just one intimate online shop – we had achieved this offline with our stores in Shoreditch, it’s now exciting to see it successfully translated for the web.”

Start was founded in 2002 by Philip Start, former CEO of Woodhouse and his rock star wife, Brix Smith-Start, former guitarist of cult band, the Fall. Their combined vision has created one of the most exclusive designer boutiques in London, where clothing and accessories from both renowned designers and up and coming talent can be found.
